Performance Poetry evening

Staff and students from English Language and Creative Writing attended an excellent performance poetry event – the first event of the 2016 Cheltenham Poetry Festival. The event featured JB Barrington, Jim Higo, and the local poet K A Poetry. The poetry was edgy, alive, genuine, at times conveying universal truths about the human condition, at times revealing deeply personal truths, at times poignantly nostalgic about the hard times in Thatcher years and the even harder times in the current political climate, at times it was hilarious, at times utterly absurd. Overall it demonstrated the power and magic of the spoken world, a key theme of the English Language course.
